Title: Brighter / LED turn signal bulbs? Anyone help here?
Post by: middlem2 on April 19, 2006, 07:53:40 PM
I want to get brighter bulbs for the turn signals.  Surely someone here has done this......and can ref where/what LED bulb to get?
Thanks in advance.

Nothing is brighter than stock. Check out the Buell signals: http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id31.html and http://pantablo500.tripod.com/id32.html

IMHO, probably the best bang-for-buck to get brighter signals would be to fabricate a refector to fit inside the housing. Shouldn't take much- a little aluminum flashing from the hardware store could be easily cut and bent to shape. I have some polished aluminum venting tape that would probably do, but the adhesive seems to become brittle after a period of years. I'd go with the flashing.

Kerry did a write-up on using aftermarket lights that weren't as bright as stock, and he included his method of making a reflector for inside the housing.  Here's the link. (http://www.bbburma.net/LP_ShortStalk2.htm) I bought my GS with aftermarket signals, so I'm not sure if there's a reflector in there already, but if not, I agree with Wrecent Wryder that this should help.

Good luck.
