I have a brand new chain and I want to take care of it really well. I noticed it's getting very dirty. I performed some basic chain maint for the first time. I wanna make sure I'm not doing anything dumb.
First I sprayed chain with this lube then wiped off what dirt I could.

I noticed alot of crap and dirt all over the chain and rear sprocket. Only thing is I couldn't tell if that was some sort of grease that was supposed to be there from the new chain or what. I wiped it clean.
After cleaning the chain/sprocket with lube I put this stuff on it.

The best thing you can do for a chain is keep it clean. Next is lube, both as lube and as an o-ring preserver; also to help prevent rust.
ya did good. keep it up and it'll last you a good long time.

I go kerosene and then Maxima spray-on wax. Also a very good combo. And please don't clean and lube it with the bike on the centerstand and in gear; your fingers are there for a reason.

Dry Lube (Wax) is freaking awesome. 1/2 the dirt.....
