Title: Question about a 1985 GS550E
Post by: dyran on April 24, 2006, 03:35:01 PM
Does anyone know if they are decent bikes? There is one for sale for rather cheap, is it worth it? Any known problems? Any resources I could read through online?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Not a very common bike and someone just inquired about the 83-85 GS550E on the Total Motorcycles forum.  My reply there:

The GSResources site and forum is for 76 thru 85 GS bikes. Should find some info there.

Here's a pic of one from GSResources:

If it's in good shape then it's totally worth it. I was gonna buy one till the guy took it to the shop and the mech told him to not sell it to me for 500 bucks. Sometimes I really hate mechanics. Also a big thumbs up for the the GSResources board. I also have an 83 GS750 and was where a great person from Scotland of all places sent me a cd of the repair manual for the bike. Great site and people too, although some of them have a thing against GS500's. :dunno_white:
