Ugh, the bike is at it again. After working fine for the last 2 years. Today on my way to work it started sputtring under acceleration. Now it'll start after several attempts, and it's running super rich. I don't how this could happen between Friday and Today. Anyways, Fuel is just dripping from the airbox drain hose, and I'm always seeing and the exhaust smells really rich. It also won't hold idle for long. Any input with the current gas prices is greatly appreciated.
fuel leaking out there would indicate sticky floats
What could've cuased that? How do I 'unstick" them?
Thanks.
Check the carburetor float height is it too high
Chech Kerry's How-to for Float height check (http://www.bbburma.net/FloatHeight.htm)
That's how I checked mine...
Thanks Kerry!
Sticky float, as mentioned, or worn flot valve needle.
Also, if fuel flows when the bike is standing your petcock is in the wrong position or broken. It should normally interrupt fuel flow as soon as the engine stops.
sticky float or worn o-rings in the carb. Mine was both, I did a full carb rebuild this spring after having the same problems when I started it up after storage.
Good luck! its really not that hard once you get into it. :thumb:
switching the vaccum line with a fuel line will do it to, but dont ask how I know
I'll ask anyway. How the hell did you get the larger fuel hose to hold on the vacuum nipple?
3imo is just good with nipples from what ive been told...
Or a piece of debris is lodged in between the float needle and seat. To flush it out, set the frame mounted fuel selector to PRI and open the floatbowl drainscrews for a few seconds. Do one floatbowl at a time, and hook up a hose to the floatbowl drain spigot to direct the fuel to a container.

I don't get it :dunno_white:
go to blockbuster and rent "brokeback mountain"
ya might want to take a shower or rinse your mouth out afterward but then you'll understand.
i have yet to see that movie, and unless one of my good lady friends really really pressures me into it with the understanding of mucho hetero relations before and after the film, I probably never will
it really solidified my homophobidness.
I was always saying I'm secure in my sexuality until I saw it.
now I am secure in my homophobness.
Thanks for highjacking the thread "happy cowboys" :icon_razz: . I'll try draiining the bowls and hopefully whatever is clogging it will come out. This is really the wrong time to be working on the bike . Thanks for all the replies. I'll keep you updated.
sorry dude. let us know and we'll lend our "expertise"
to keep right on running with the hijack...
It's a great movie, the best I've seen this year. There is one distasteful sex scene but it didn't really spoil it for me. I've been recommending it to all my friends and co-workers and getting a lot of weird looks :icon_confused:

I've heard that the movie wasn't that good. Not because of the subject matter, but because of the way it worked out. According to my friends who have seen it, you don't get any hint of attraction between the two guys. They just all of a sudden start going at it.
Isn't watching a ghey cowboy movie in Texas a capital offense? Or is it just worth an ass whoopin'?

Sounds like you're worried that you might be ghey. What's up with that? Haven't you been wearing condoms when you have sex with men so that you don't catch ghey?
so much for the threadjack.
you've heard that saying "I'm secure in my sexuality" like the person can act ghey or be around ghey men and not be uncomfortable.
well, I was like that. I've know a few ghey guys and had no problem being around them or whatever, but watching the movie bothered me. like seeing them kiss and have sex left me kinda sick.
so my wife and her freinds say I am a homophobe. if thats the case then I am. I don't hate gays, and I don't think I judge them for their life choices, but I can't stand to see men kissing and having sex, it turns my stomach.
I don't understand it, though, cause I can watch Ron Jeremy go at it with a woman for hours, with a stiffy. ;)
go figure.
