Title: finnicky wheel lock
Post by: gsforme on April 25, 2006, 07:58:06 AM
Thought I'd make a new thread on my wheel lock problem.

Can't seem to engage my wheel lock properly.

Here's where I stand:

I can get the wheel to lock if it's all the way right... but when doing this I cannot pull the key out, nor is it exactly at the "LOCK" selection.

With the wheel to the left, I actually can't lock it at all, and the key doesn't reach as far to the "LOCK" selection like stated above. And I can't pull the key out.

I will call the shop today and seller. Both of them had wheel lock to-the-left engaged at one point.

Previously in the other thread I described stuff incorrectly.

If you're a noobie like me, you might be making the mistake of going past "lock" and indicating "park" or something like that.  Next time your wheel is locked, get off the bike and look at your brake light.  I did this and felt really stupid.  Another thing is my bike is a 90, so once I got it in lock, I had to do some jiggling with the bars to get the key out.  Hope it helps.

Doesn't the key need to be pushed it to turn it from off to lock?  I'm not sure, I can't remember, but its just a thought

Yea I'm pushing it in to be able to turn it to the lock position.

I cannot reach all the way to LOCK... which means I can't even reach P.

Perhaps the wheel has to be not at extreme (hitting the stopper) but maybe 5 degrees before the end?  I haven't tried this jiggling yet.

I jiggle the bars just slightly and it seems to drop in OK
