Title: Best time to check float height?
Post by: tussey on April 25, 2006, 04:58:37 PM
I'm trying to figure out if my floats are wrong. I keep taking readings but I'm not getting consistent results. Sometimes it will be 1" under sometimes it's correct. I've taking readings when the bike is cold and just after I rode it for 20 minutes. After I ride it seems alright, cold it's about 1" under on both sides. So what's the correct reading??  :dunno_white:

PS funny symptpms on my bike. Consistently stalls out at stop lights till it's warmed up. Then I turn off the choke and it seems to idle fine although occasionally bogs down when I WOT. Once it warms up it MUST have the choke off else it will die at stoplights. Go figure. Any ideas?

Float reading - anytime when the bike is on the centerstand and the frame petcock is set to PRI and the drain screw is left open.

Symptoms - Normal.

Bogs - it's too rich, but we need more info, such as:

When do you go WOT?

And the last symptom - Normal, for rich carburetion.
