Hi,
Reading this board, you are all very knowledgable on the GS500f.
What are you seeing as the average sales price for a 2004 GS500f? There is one close to me that has about 1000 miles on it. The ask is $3500. The bike looks to be in excellent condition.
Thank you for your time.
Please remember that any bike being sold this time of year will probably run higher than in December. With that, may I introduce you to a little project of mine?
CLICK HERE (http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=87&subpageid=224590&ck=) for my ebay price guide and GS 500 census page.
Scroll down to the 2004 section of the table and you will have an answer for ebay auctions.
Your local bike may well be worth the asking price, but the condition of the bike is absolutely essential to the worth. The next essential condition is what you are willing to pay for it.
You could use NADA.com or KBB.com for the book value that the bike sold through participating dealers and other brokers.
Your site is excellent. Thank you for the reply.
I did check NADA and KBB, but people like yourself who have your wheels on the street always know so much more.
Thanks again.

Well you are welcome, but that business about my wheels on the street is not correct. My GS project will be on the street soon though. But then I've been saying that over a year...
I just collect ebay data on GS sales and collate it in a useful format. I also happen to have the world's largest personal collection of GS VINs. When I am dead and gone, maybe I will have them all carved on my tombstone.
I saw the bike that you where talking about.
That is not a bad price.
I bought a 2004 GS5004 with 4K miles that has been droped at low speed, has scratchs on fairing on one side.
Last DEC I paid $2800, bike was in NYC area.
This bike you are look is a good deal.
If I had the cash I would buy it, the bike is about a hour away :).

I just purchased an '04 GS500F with 3600 on the odometer. The stater cover was scratched on the right side, and the lower left cowling on front of the kickstand was broken. Other than that, it was in good shape. I paid 3200. It was right in the middle of the KBB and NADA, but I wanted a starter bike fairly soon, and used GS500F's are pretty rare, so I was willing to offer a little more. KBB was between somewhere between 3100-3800, with NADA being like 2800-3800, depending on condition. With is having only 1000 miles, 3500 is a fair STARTING price. If you can negotiate it to ~3000-3200, you're getting a good deal IMO, depending on the plastics, and other things.
If you ask the claims adjuster that handled my accident she would say $3800.. After some research and arguing... I got $4535... Of course that was last October..
