I was wondering if there was a noticible performance difference between these two exhausts. I saw the Dyno graph done on the stock GS500 exhaust, compared to the Vance & Hines aftermarket, and liked the increased horsepower trend. However, I did do my homework ( so back off :2guns: j/k), and found that the V&H doesn't really fit the GSF models, and with the exception of the one guy who never showed any pictures, it seems that most posters are now on the Wiley bandwagon because of this.
I don't have a problem modding either of these exhausts myself, but am more concerned with performance. Is Wiley the hawt sauce right now because they are as good as the V&H, or is it just because they are cheap, and one of the moderators is mass producing the flange and sleeve for them? If there is no noticible difference in power, I'd pick up the cheaper Wileys in a heartbeat as all I'd need is the can and a pipe. If the V&H are noticibly better though, they are still relatively cheap, and I'd consider picking up the full exhaust and maybe just tweaking it a little, or adding a piece to fit around the fairing / oil pan.
Thanks. :thumb:
I have a stock exhaust, so I don't have any experience. However, from what I've read, typically slip-ons don't have as much of a performance increase over aftermarket because of the stock pipes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that most aftermarket systems have larger pipes once you come out of the engine, leading to a freer flowing exhaust and increased performance.
It seems that you did search, so you'll have no need for flame-resistant underpants. It's not like you're pulling a Teflon Nick. :)
The member that did a rejet with the wileyco (stock air box) was able to dyno 41.2

While the one with the rejet (dynojet) and Vance and Hines (along with K&N) dynoed 43.2

So unless the dynojet kit is much better than a poor man's rejet (doubtful), or the K&N was responsible for the extra HP, or some other factors were int here (temperature) it looks like the V&H might be a little more powerful.
But really, can you feel that 2HP? :dunno_white:
And better yet, does the 2HP justify the extra cost? It is up to you!
BTW, I have a Wileyco with srinath flange. I bought it because it was the cheapest route to a better sounding bike. Performance wasn't really a concern of mine, personally. :thumb:
