Title: Is this a good price for a '97 gs500?
Post by: DPark14 on April 27, 2006, 06:43:13 PM
I found a 1997 gs500 in my area and he's selling it for $1700. Is that a good price or should I try to haggle the price down?
Also he sent me some pictures through email and it looks good to me but I don't know much about bikes.
Description he gave:

Clean title
18,8xx miles
K&N pod air filter
Yoshimura exhaust
150/50 rejetting
New chain / front sprocket

Blue in color, could use cosmetic work.

Anybody? I think the guy selling it is on these forums also. I believe it's Savor's bike.

How far away from you is he? I'd go take a look at the bike, make sure all was as described. But it sounds like a good deal, I'd probably buy it right now, since I'm looking for a bike..

He is really close. We go to the same school (U of A). I'm going to go look at it tomorrow but like I said I don't know much about bikes so I wouldn't know what to look for.

I think $1700 is a decent price, obviously depending on the condition of the bike.

Personally I paid like $2000 a couple years ago for a '96, just so I could start riding as soon as possible.  I've never regretted it.  It was nice to have the bike on hand before the MSF course.

Well just to let you guys know I just got the bike. It's in my garage as I'm typing this. Pretty excited but I can't ride it yet because I don't have my M license.

We agreed on $1600 and the bike seems fine.

150/50 jetting ... I dont even think it will run ... roo rich ... waaaaay too rich ... once you get it started ... it will die, of course it will prolly run great at over 1/2 throttle ...
You think maybe 150/40 ???
Cool.

Yes it is my bike, and it's 150/40 jet settings.

I didn't want to deal with the drama of dealing with my mother when I go back home for college. I will be back after summer ends though!

Hey, once again, thanks for the bike, man. Also thanks for delivering it to my house, I really appreciate it.

I just uploaded all the pictures but something went wrong and now I have to do it all over again . Here are the pics:

Haha, thanks, but I don't deserve all the credit. I bought the bike as is. Probably should give the credit to Savor. I just bought the bike and took pictures of it.

I apologize.
