Title: Left lean problems
Post by: NWDave on April 28, 2006, 01:08:01 PM
Ok, so I can't figure this out.  I/GS500 will take a right turn lean no problem, now the problem comes when I try to go into a left lean.  The bike doesn't seem to react as well when I try to go into a left lean, is there some mechanical problem for this or is it just some mental barrier, or something, that I have to overcome?

I have the opposite problem, but I'm left-handed.

Some people prefer taking right hand turns, while others prefer left hand turns.

I'm a left-hand-turner myself.

Hang some 10-pound plates from your left side passenger peg. That'll dip you into a left turn really quick.

Make sure the rear wheel, and chain adjusters are straight.  Don't trust the marks around the adjusters, measure from the swingarm pivot.  If the marks show that the adjusters are in the same position, and the distance from the pivot to the axle is the same on both sides, then you can trust them.  But I've seen them out of line about as often as in line.

I can lean in the left turns....I tend to fall over on the right (slow) ones...   :icon_rolleyes:

I keep noticing that majority of slideouts and turning issues happen with the left turn!  whats the deal with that? is it some gravitational thing?   that is very wierd!

Welcome!

People have more time and distance to see how far they can lean the bike in left hand turns; it's a larger arc.
