Title: Need help part II - wheel alignment
Post by: nick_the_guy on April 28, 2006, 07:38:49 PM
Hi again, I was working on the bike and I needed to tighten the chain. On the sprocket side of the rear wheel, I had no problem moving the axle forward or back. However, on the brake caliper side, I could only move the axle back (tightening the nut clockwise). When I adjust the nut by turning it counter-clockwise, it loosens the metal plate but the axle doesn't move. Help, it's ruining my sprocket and brake rotor.

You've already loosened the axle, tap the threaded end, to give a little more freedom from the head of the axle on the right.

Just push the wheel forward to bring the metal plate against the end of the swingarm.

Hi, I already tried that and it didn't budge. In fact, something really wrong must have happened because the brake grinds and the rotor is now scored.
