Also, just wanted to say thanks to those that gave advice in my Buell headlight mod thread ... I'm going to be finishing that up in the morning.
On to my question. ....
This one is for the way-out-there future ... but I was wondering ...
If I put an alarm on my GS, could I wire the alarm to flash the signal or head/tail lights when I arm and disarm it? If it's possible, how could you do it?

I"m sure it would depend on the system, however, with a little bit of know-how and a soldering gun, a system that would flash anything could flash either.
Yes, it's possible, but my bf did it (on my GS, on his FZ6, and on my SVS), so I can't explain it very well... :dunno_white:
He said that he used the universal kits included with the various alarms, and that he spliced into the turn signals and the tail light.

Should be relatively easy, actually. The alarm should come with easy to follow directions, that say something to the effect of "If you want the headlight/taillight to flash, splice the yellow wire into your headlight connection and the green wire into your taillight connection"

They generally do come with directions, but the wire colours don't always match. I think Suzuki just uses whatever colour they have in stock to do wiring...they don't always seem to follow the general pattern. :mad: :2guns:

no no, I was saying attach the green wire from the alarm control unit (which would obviously be the right color, since it's on the alarm the instructions were printed for) to the headlight wire (whatever color it may be) on the GS. Anyone with a multimeter and/or the wiring diagram (posted somewhere on this site, but I'm too lazy to search) can figure out which one is the headlight wire. Scott, if you lived near me, I'd offer to help even though I'm not technically an EE, I'm an ECE (close enough, right?).
Depending on the alarm you buy, all you will have to do is hook the parking light output (light flash) out of the alarm to the parking lights of the bike. The headlight and taillight are linked together. The turn signals however are seperate circuits and therefore you would have to diode them so your left is still your left and the right is your right. I use viper car alarms on my bike and all my friends. The reason, I always put the pager units on it with the digital tilt sensor. This way when I'm in the house I know when the bike is being touched.
