Title: Seat heights... ( I know there are posts about this but no answers to this)
Post by: GS500Ghost on April 29, 2006, 06:26:04 PM
I checked out an 04' with 70 miles on it last week and fit with both feet on the ground.
Today I sat on an 04' with 4200 miles on it and couldnt reach the floor.
Commonsense, I would  assume the bike that was used more would be lower due to being broken in.  Both claim to have never been modified.   Am I maybe missing something here?   This is complicating my decision making. :dunno_white:

perhaps the rear preload was changed on one of the bikes?

Or different tires on the mroe used on?

I'm gonna go with the preload answer. I'm pretty sure a bike won't begin to lower as it gets broken in.

I didnt think of the tires. Supposingly both bikes were stock.  It was just a huge difference. I couldnt believe it. I'm all confused of what to be looking for now.

One thing that is getting in the way are the pegs! When I put my feet down the pegs poke right inside my calf and make me have to .... um   "spread em"  and I lose my stance and stability.

I'm not sure what you're saying. The pegs poke into your legs? You need to put your feet on the pegs, not next to them.

Sorry, I just don't get what you are saying.

I should have been more clear....  when I hold the bike up at a stop, The pegs are kind of in my way. I'm pretty small and never ridden a bike yet.   I have been tagged along on the back goin 140mph till I had tunnel vision but havent had the chance to do it myself! (which I do not think I do not think I will be attempting ) :o

It could just be the bikes :dunno_white:  Boss500 and I have the same bikes GS500F's same year mine's blue his is black.  Put our bikes together and mine's lower to the ground same preload.  This was before we did any mod's to our bikes.  I asked the dealer about it, he didn't know why. :dunno_white:
I know my answer doesnt help but get the bike you are move comfortable with.
