Yeah, my fingers are long and skinny...it doesn't make glove-shopping very much fun. i had some crappy no-leather AGV gloves that had to go. So, i go to a nearby dealer like 10 minutes before they close. Not the best idea...but it's the earliest i can get there after work. i end up going home with some long, all-leather Joe Rocket gloves. They seemed to fit the best. But on my ride in this morning, i thought my fingers were going to bust out the ends. i got a medium, cause the large just seemed to "baggy." :oops: Do you guys think i should just get larges? i know leather stretches, but i don't think the mediums are gonna stretch enough. Is there anyone out there who has found a glove that is skinny-finger-friendly. Alpha, i remember you saying you had some skinny fingers. Are you still using Olympias? (i searched earlier...)
Any ideas? i really don't want my crappy gloves to damage my delicate artist hands. :laugh:
Yeah, I'm using the Olympias right now, and I have to buy a large, otherwise my fingers push against the tip of the glove WAY too hard. Painful hard.
They are a little big in the finger width, but I've had worse. They're not bad, really. If you can't find any of them at the dealer, I'll let you borrow my gauntlets to try out if you pay shipping both ways.
I'm going to check with some Euro brands sometime soon because they are naturally skinnier people than we Americans, and should have something that fits a bit better. Check out Dainese, Alpinestars, and Held, for starters.
I have long skinny finger too. Most of my glove experience is with leather/fabric Mechanix gloves. I always get large and they seem a little snug at first, but they do become better fitting the more I use them. When I say snug I don't mean uncomfortably tight, I mean I can feel a little pressure from the gloves on the tips of my fingers when I put them on all the way to my wrist. I have also bought a pair of XL that fit better new, but noticeably hinder feel, and I much rather the large..
Now when it comes to motorcycle gloves, I just bought a pair of Alpinestars SPS in large online. I got large because of my experience with my Mechanix gloves, but when I got them I found they were WAY too small. I sent them back for a pair of SP-1s in XL hoping they will fit better. I haven't gotten them yet so idk how they're going to fit.
My point is 1) no 2 manufactures are the same and 2) gloves to fit better with age, but only to a point. It's really up to you; if the gloves are uncomfortably tight, you should probably go for the next larger size
Thanks for the input guys. i guess i was worried that a glove that fits rather loosely (not in length) in the fingers might either be less safe, or more difficult to operate the controls with. :dunno_white:

Well, looseness in the fingers can be less safe, as they will rotate around. However, if you buy all leather gloves, then that worry isn't nearly as great than with textile ones. Pressure against your finger tips can cause distracting pain, as well as cut off the circulation to your fingers, which can reduce the sensitivity to the controls.
Yeah, i kinda figured it'd come down to the ol' Pick Your Poison. i'm with you tho, i think looseness will be better than numbness and all around fingertip pain. i'll probably just go back and swap em out for larges.
Sometimes gloves of the same size and make will fit differently. I usually try on three or four pairs of mediums, 3-4 pairs of small, and 3-4 pair of larges, to see which one fits me best; all of the same maker and model I am looking for (TourMaster Carbon Comp II's <-shameless plug; I found the small to have the right finger length, but to short in the palm, the larges were just too big, the mediums kinda stopped my fingertips too soon, but I figured they'd stretch, I'm still breaking them in).
Because i know everyone is waiting to know, :icon_rolleyes: i exchanged the gloves for the larges. The ride in this morning was much more pleasant. The length is still a little snug...i don't know what i was thinking with the mediums.
