shot these today
nice, what camera/lense?
The top one, the wasp...they scrape up bits of wood to build their nests. If you look close at the wood, you can see the brown areas where the wasps have already scraped off the top layer of grey, weathered wood.
They are like little MacGuyver's: a little wood pulp, a little wasp spit...and voila! A nest! :thumb:
That fly picture is great! :thumb:
i too am curious what you shot these with.
i shot these with my d70s accompanied by a sigma 150mm f2.8 macro
My D70s just came in the mail yesterday! :icon_mrgreen: i have to photograph a wedding soon, and it gave me a good excuse/funds to finally upgrade from the ol' F80. How do you like yours?
i love mine!
Oh that's just nasty. Man, I hate bugs.
phewy. they're not nasty! they're insects btw, not bugs
Ah hymenoptera. Well at least the first two pictures are anyway.
I love that 3rd shot of the fly, that is excellent!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
the first is a polistes wasp (paper wasp?). second is apis melifera (honeybee).

And by insects, you really mean "flying objects," right?

It depends. You know the old adage: How to tell a friendly biker? By the flies between his teeth!
