Exciting!  I have been infactuated with my GS ever since I got it, I'm sure he will be too.

Get him into the MSF course!  I'm sure you will teach him a responsible way of riding, but the MSF course can prepare him for things that you'd just never be able to teach him.

Have you turned him on to gstwin.com?  He should come on here and join the fun/psychoness!

-Turd.

Where's he at? In Killeen with you?

+1 on the MSF though.

Statistically according to the Hurt report, people who are taught by friends or family are much more likely to crash than those who teach themselves.  Of  course, those who have been trained by professionals are least likely.

yea i'm still trying to talk him in to saving up the money and get him to take it . i know there gonna teach him things that i wont think of .. alot of things i do just out of knowing how to ride ( i'v been riding since i was 8 racing heavy from 13-19 and still riding at almost 22 years old so ..... most of the things i know i just know out of it happning to me ) yes alapha hes in killeen with me . i'll let you know when where gonna be down that way so we can meet up .. but him going down there with me is going to be  a bit. hes a really unskilled rider so ... and i know him .. i grew up with him and if we go out on a ride and its any thing more then just a few long long open sweapers he will try and keep up and that bike and him will end up kissing the asphalt :( but i got 25 bucks for refering him to the honda shop here :P can you say flush mounts for the back now :P

Taking the course is just part of the cost of owning a motorcycle.  If you can't afford the course and gear, you can't afford the motorcycle.

definetly,
Here it's mandatory to take the motorcycle safety course just to get your license... so that's taken care of... you don't pass the course - you don't get to ride. Makes things a little safer

Wheee!!! My girlfriend has expressed interest in riding! She's going to take the MSF course this summer to make sure it's what she wants to do, and then I might have a GS lined up for her when she has enough money.

I showed her pictures of a bunch of different bikes today to see what she likes in terms of styling. I could tell right away that cruisers were not on the list. Here are her responses to bikes I showed her (pictures, no names)
Ninja 250R: Cute, but would remove the "Ninja"
Ninja 500R: Ugly. Yuck.
Ducati Monster: Gorgeous.
Ducati 749R: Pretty, but the plastic needs to go.
1st gen SV650 (naked): Ooooo...
GS500: Really really like this one. One of the best so far.

So, she thinks the Ninja 500 is ugly, the Ducatis are sexy and better naked, and the GS500 is gorgeous.
I'm in love.

Alpha,
I was thrilled when my wife showed an interest in riding.  She's 5'3" and she loves her EX-250.  Other than the small cockpit and more frenetic power band, I love it when she let's me ride it.  The more on 2 wheels the merrier.

My girlfriend is roughly 5'6, so the GS should be no problem for her. The good news is I found her a bike in her price range that's close by, the bad news is that the guy selling it is selling it because he broke his thumb and can't ride it anymore. Bummer.

I was actually talking with her about the Ninja 250, but we haven't been able to find any for a decent price. I doubt she'll have any problems on the GS. I do need to make sure she is doing this because SHE wants to and not because I pressured her into it in some form or another.

Sounds like a keeper! lol
My gf is a keeper for sure, but she doesn't like bikes and won't watch me drive it let alone be on it or think of her own.. :dunno_white:

Just be careful.. she enjoys ducatis (as most of us do) and those are pricey. lol

Nah, she just enjoys how they look, just as I do.

Although, funny stuff, the Ducatis have longer service intervals than our GS. Now that's just pathetic.

Man, you guys are so lucky.

My girl wants a Vespa. Preferably in light blue or pink. I can just see us tooling around town. Me on a GS and her on a Vespa. Everyone pointing and laughing.

Hehe, gotta sniff the two strokeness. Smells much nicer than a four stroke. Anywhos my girlfriend is amazing shes cute and a pain in the ass about my bike . Trying to upgrade bikes any sorta of conversation about that leads to an argument how i should get a car ( i mean come on is she crazy! no way!  :flipoff:) her reasoning is she wants me to drive her around and she wont go on a bike with me. Her reason is flawed because shes learning to drive and is going to pass her test in a few weeks hopefully so whats the point in me learning to drive - she can drive herself around. Any ideas on how to bring her around to bikes so i dont get such a hard time when i bring one home?!?!  :icon_twisted:

you could do what I did... my girlfriend wasn't too keen on me riding and gave me crap about getting a MC, so I dumped her ass  :thumb:

actually it had nothing to do with the whole MC thing, but at least I don't get crap about it anymore, and instead she WANTS to ride with me now... women, go figure  :dunno_white:

Yea women are impossible to figure out. One morning im been told that i just annoy her all the time and she can't help been annoyed by me when im doing nothing at all litrally. WTF?!?! how can i be annoying sat still with my mouth shut or woteva. Go over to her parent's house that afternoon, (shes learning to drive) so she asks her mum to take her out driving and her mum was too busy her dad had to pop into work for a little bit. Guess what it turns out - they get called annoying and she storms off. Guess it's not just me - after this incident i take everything she say says im bad for with a pinch of salt cause no doubt she thinks everyones bad for it one day.  :thumb:

It's so true.

Yeah, and they also have longer price tags. At $30K, the 999R should be maintenance-free for life.

Oh, props on scoring a good lady!
