Title: Any tricks for fitting dust seals on brakes?
Post by: red_phil on May 09, 2006, 03:32:31 PM
Hi all.
I'm now reassembling my front brake caliper.
I have the seals in place and the pistons will go in,
but when i put the dust seals in place the pistons wil no longer fit into their bores.

Any secret special methods for getting this to work?

you push the dust seals way up on the upper part and use a piece of wire to hold it up out of the way till you have the fork back together,   and make sure all 4 of the outer parts of the seal retainer are seated completly intot he fork leg. or the dust seal won't go down all the way.

Yeah, It's the dust seals on the brakes not the fork legs that are giving me problems.

Thanks for trying though.
