Title: I am leaking fuel.
Post by: jgxtra on May 09, 2006, 09:15:59 PM
I went for a ride the other day and as soon as I restarted the engine before setting off for a ride fuel stared leaking out of the carb/intake boot.  What could the problem be? Fuel jets? What should I replace to fix the problem?

Floats may be sticking.. take the float bowls off the bottom of the carbs and check em out  :thumb: Spray some carb cleaner in there and clean it out if needed

I'd set the frame petcock to Prime and open the drain screws to flush out the potential offending debris keeping the floats open.

If that does not fix it then you will need to remove the foatbowls to clean out whatever is causing the problem.

Also, another issue is that gas should not be able to leak past your carb boots, if so, the clamps are not tight enough and allowing air to leak past, as well.
