Title: New Game: Identify this lizard!!!
Post by: manofthefield on May 09, 2006, 09:28:42 PM
I'm working part time at for a flower vendor that delivers to Home Depot and today i found something strange in the geraniums... a small lizard.  I didn't know what else to do with him, so I brought him home with me.  His body is not more than 2 inches long, but his tail adds another 3 or 4 inches to him.  He is primarily brown and there is a little bit of a diamond pattern on his back.  I have no idea where he is from... could have come in with the geraniums or anything else, and I don't know where most of the flowers are grown, just that they come from a distribution center in NW Wisconsin (some stuff may be grown there :dunno_white:)

Here's a pic:

I couldn't get him out of the jar to get his picture, so I just have this of his front half.  Can anyone tell me what (s)he is?

Yeah, sorry for the poor picture, but she was in the corner of my makeshift terrarium (applesauce jar) and the thick glass blocked a clear shot of her whole body.  After looking at some pictures of anoles on the web, it is pretty clear to me that it is a female brown anole.  The diamond shape pattern on the back indicates that she is female.

I just put together a more suitable terrarium and I plan on feeding her mealworms or crickets.  I bought some worms, but they are huge... Just as likely for them to eat her   I'll have to find another pet store that has normal meal worms or just go with small crickets.  I'm avoiding crickets if I can due to the noise.
