Hi there,
I've found a 2000 GS500 for sale fairly local, with only 2400 miles. Has slight body damage according to the ad but runs fine. Asking $1200. Question is, I'm going to call tomorrow and inquire about the body damage, how much is too much to make this bike worth buying? I like the price, but if it's frame damage, I'm staying away from it. Just any advice would nice, thanks.
Hard to tell from the limited description with no pics..but...it sounds like a good deal. :thumb: As long as you are willing to give it some TLC?
Keep us posted!
Just remember that new parts are expensive. It's easy to spend several hundred dollars fixing "minor" damage. Scraped up gauge holder? $75. Headlight ring? $30. Tank? $145 used (and it's probably not your color). Broken tail plastics? $80 per side. Handlebars? $55. Bar ends? $30. Has it been sitting for an extended period? Replace rusted chain and sprockets for $130. Rebuild the carb and replace o-rings? $70. It will nickel and dime you to death, so make sure you know what you're getting in to before you spend the money. It doesn't sound like a bad deal, but repairs are never as cheap as you think they'll be....
sounds like a good deal, even with slight body damage. sounds like it was dropped, not crashed, or not crashed at high speed.
+1 on the good deal... most will have some damage (they all get dropped sooner or later)
wish i saw that before i bought my 99 for more
No luck...it's been sold
I've got a 95 in the same condition for $1000. Light scuffage on the left side.
