Yeah, take the MSF.
Really??? I didnt have any problems with it.........
yeah ditto on the MSF
You are in PA right? In PA there is no permit test :thumb: You just go in and say.. I want my permit! And they are like.. ok give us $10. :thumb:
Also if you sign up for the MSF its included in the $10 permit price and you get your licence when you are done!

Really? My friend had to take a 20 or 25 question test to get his permit. In Lancaster. I need to get mine soon, so I really should just go to the DMV and request one with $10?

when did u take the permit? They changed the rules! before u just go to a fast tags joint and pay 25 bucks. now you have go to a drivers license center and pay 10 bucks, then take the knowledge test. its 20 quesitons and you need to pass 16 of them. i passed, my sister passed, and my brother in law who's been riding for 10 years failed! its not hard but there are some grey area questions. make sure u study the book!!!! there will be several questions about lane position in certain circumstances. this is a must to know. after the permit you can schedule a class M license test. its free because u paid for it with the 10 bucks for the permit. hahah eat it jersey!!
oh and for the MSF im pretty sure that you need to have a permit PRIOR to taking the course. again the MSF is FREEEEEEE. eat it again JERSEY!!! hahhaha
MSF
+1 on the MSF... And uhh.. I'm fairly certain you don't need a permit to take the MSF. At least, not in Florida, Georgia, or Alaska, the 3 places I've considered taking it.
Hmm... I got my permit 2 years ago.. I didnt have to take any test :dunno_white: Just got my permit then took the MSF... Strange...
As others have said, the rules changed for getting a permit in PA. New you are must pass a test to obtain one. I've been riding for 12 years and have always just renewed my permit, just a creature of habit I quess but since the rule changed I figured it would be the proper motivation for me to actually get my class M license. I just went last Wednesday and passed. Like Weaselnose said, it's 20 questions and you're allowed to get 4 wrong. Then there is a very easy riding test where you have to do a couple of figure 8's and show that you know the controls without looking. I took the GS down to take the test, it's easier to do the figure 8's on then my shovelhead or the v-star 1100!
Is it just me who thinks it is way to easy to get your motorcycle licence in America. In England you have to do a basic training course to ride a 125cc bike with learner L plates. You then have to do a theory test and a test on the road.
I think this is much better. It scares me to think that someone can just fill out a form and are allowed to ride a motorcycle on the road.

Likewise. I like the European system for all vehicle licensing.

Sorry it took me so long to reply! I went to Dublin for the test. There are no painted lines but the instructor has you do the figure-8s in a rectangle made from where they patched the parking lot of the grocery store right next to the license center.
