What settings did you upgrade to on your rejet? I've got an '05 and would like to widen the power band and smooth out the throttle which sounds exactly like what you're describing - I like little mechanical projects, keeps me entertained for a weekend

Be aware that there are some hose-routing issues with the filter change
I am in the midst of the same operation on my '04. What did you do with the open-ended hose that from the carbs that draped over the OE airbox? I am thinking that if it didn't have a breather filter before it doesn't need one now.
I can hardly wait to start up and ride the bike after I complete the re-jet. I am waiting on a new valve piston which I broke during reinstallation. I am going to be running the DynoJet kit (using 132 mains instead of the DJ recommended 128, DJ-supplied needles on slot 4 from top, DJ-supplied pilots which are size 18 I think, and mixture screw out 3 turns) with K&N pod-style air filters in place of the stock airbox.
Thank you for your post by the way.
