Title: Taking off the Seat
Post by: super_namer on May 18, 2006, 05:19:13 PM
Hey guys,

I've searched all over this forum and i've read that you can take the seat off. I don't have the Owners Manual with me so i don't know how to take it off to use the helmet lock.

Can someone help me out?

Just stick the key in to the lock and twist it and you will feel it "click" (unlock) and pull up on the rear of the seat a lil..and it will come right off. Happiness is.  :thumb:

The '04+ bikes have the same tail plastics as the '01+ bikes.

And that's the lock Phaedrus was talking about...

Ya..the seat locks onto the frame of the bike for "security".

Just remember to take your key out after you're done when you park it

Not that I've ever left mine in while parking over night outside in Philadelphia. (thanks karma)

Yeah...  I've never left my key in the seat lock for two weeks...  Nor have I ever left the key in the ignition for 8 hours...

It is often easier for me to unlock the seat if I press down slightly on the center of the seat while turning the key.  It avoids that "key feel like it's about to snap" feeling.  Since I only have one key, that's an issue!   Maybe I should get a duplicate... :cookoo:

Yeah, I don't think anyone should be picked on for asking what might seem liek a "dumb" question to many of us.  Everyone is at different levels. If we weren't, this forum would be dull and boring.

My first Newbie question was:

"How do I adjust the chain?  Is it hard?"

Then...

"I broke my oil-filter cover stud...  What do I do to fix it?"
