I was talking with one of my buddies from Salt lake city, he is converting a 500 ninja into a naked bike......
Anyway he claims he found a company that has a handle bar with the Speedometer inside the bar. If this is true it would be amazing! I always hate the look of the bulky gages that came on my stock bike.
Here is my best attempt to find what he was talking about, I was hoping for something that flowed with the bar instead of a globe shape. Kind of the hidden gauge....

Let me know if you have any other options out there

Couldn't find anything about a speedo inside a handlebar, just stuff similar to what you found. Honestly, I can't think of how that would look. I agree that the clunky instrument cluster on a naked bike is awful, the best solution I've seen is a bicycle computer. It's TINY, and can be mounted darn near anywhere. You don't need a tach on a bike - you've got ears. If / when I'm to do it, I'd look up the wiring and design a very small 'dash' that could be mounted to the bars or even behind the headlight bucket. It would have 3 small LEDS, and a Bicycle computer for speed. No need for an odometer. Each of the LEDs would indicate either Neutral, Turn Signals and Oil. The whole kit would be less than 3"x3", and could be shaped to fit anywhere.
Look into making your own!
BTW, bicycle computers use a small wheel-mounted magnet and a pickup mounted to the fork / swingarm, usually mounted 16" from the hub, depending on the size of the wheel. Since Bicycles are used to a 24" rim/tire, you'd have to experiment where to put the magnet.
Just found this link: http://www.motogadget.com/en/frameset.html
Site said it would be coming out soon, that would be sweet to hide on the handlebar and then removing those two clumbsy looking gauges that are on now.
Cool, but do F's have electronic tach and speedo senders? I know my E has mechanical.

Mechanical speedo, electric tach. The electric tach was one of the changes in '04. I think the engine still has a pick up for the mechanical, though. I know the guage housing still has an opening for it.
