I replaced my clutch lever, but I mangled the little plastic slider that makes contact with the electrical plate inside the clutch sensor.
The plastic slider has lost about 1/3 of it's length, but it still slides and I am able to start my bike up. What happened was the new clutch lever had more openings for the slider to fit in... on first installation the slider must have been in the wrong hole... depressing the clutch a few times felt "gooey", I guess this was me mangling the plastic =).
Other than starting my bike up, should I worry about this thing for other reasons?
I figure I'll keep a small screw driver under my seat for the one day when I can't start up due to the slider not making contact anymore. Would open it up and fiddle around with it.
The worst thing that can happen is that the switch will quit working. You can just take the leads off and touch them together if this happens to get your bike started. If you have the spare fuse where it's supposed to be, then you can just use that to jumper it (works great). My bike has been like this for a month.
You can order that little bit as a replacement part. It is fairly cheap, but wait until you get a bigger order up. I rigged up a very tiny wood screw in the block of mine and built up the shaft (broken now on yours) with 5 min epoxy until nearly the same size.
Yeah, it was a crazy idea until I got the replacement part. :icon_rolleyes:

Unfortunately, the '92 is hard wired, You can't unplug them. :cry:

Well one time when I dropped mine it reversed the switch so I had to start the bike with the clutch out. It was preety late in the season so I didnt replace it right away. Awww the memories of being a noob!!!

Thanks works like a charm. And yes, they were soldered to the switch... I just yanked em =).
