I got a different brand motorbike, but didnt have a GS.
cuz heres the skinny, I sell manufactured homes (a real high paying job btw) and my future wife hates my motorbike. She would love to see the thing stabbed to death (It breaks my heart)
She absolutely wants me to ditch my bike and by a car. While I could afford a bike and a car, she is adamit that I get rid of the GS.
So what im thinking of doing is getting the bike payed off which should only take 3 more months, then sell it, then buy a Nissan Sentra Spec V (the good one). Then one day in the future, say 3 months later, I sneek in to a honda dealer ship a get a new bike, drive it home and tell her some one gave it to me (but she really smart so I dont think she'll fall for that)
The reason I wouldn't get the GS again is the fact that, It would be an upgrade. Hell I want to ride every other bike in the world right now and it would only get worse if I got the GS again.
So in that case, would I still be welcome? I mean I really like you guys, and Im just preparing for the future rejection.
Pablo has the CBR, and now so does rougegeek. John has (or has had) a Z1000. Srinath has who knows what. Yamahonkawazuki has a Harley (of all things!) fettcols has a Harley too, now.
You'd be fine.
Dont let your woman tell you what to do. Be a man!!!!

Hehehe, its ok im sure you'll be accepted. Its not like this a PURE bread GS site where you have to have one to be on here. I mean just check out AlphaFire's signature. If he makes any more mods hel' be riding around on a GS CBR SV soon :icon_mrgreen: Just jokin with ya alpha.
P.S good luck getting a new bike, don't let the missus get ya down :thumb:
Yeah my wife CAN tell me what to do. You she shes going to medical school to be an Ear Nose and Throat and she'll be making oh... a good 2 hundred thoussand over me... Not that I mind its just who ever brings home the bread, makes the damn descissions ( but right now its me when the money so Im not getting rid of Her (the GS) yet!)
Sooooo..... my girl goes to Yale. And she wont ever tell me what to do and I wont ever tell her what to do. She has done things that I dont approve of but I expressed my concerns and we came to a compromise. I seem to have the opposite problem... I have to tell her to not buy anymore bikes.
Yeah I mean Ive tried to come to a compomise, and its kinda worked out that I could (possibly) get a bike after I get a new car, but itll take a damned act of congress.
BTW, how many of you guys (or girls) have spouses that disapprove of your motorcycle riding?
You know if you give up this bike you wont ever be getting another one. :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:
I manipulate people for a living, dont even try that on me!!
No because next it would be you need a new house, or your trying to save for a baby, or a puppy, or new furniture cause the new puppy tore up the old. Becuase she doesnt like it there will always be something more important that you/she need/want. Trust me Im a woman and I know how they think. Give up the bike and your doomed.
Not to be a Post Whore but, I am a very very very very very stuborn SON OF A B$#CH, In fact when it came to the first time I even considered buying my bike, My brother, who is also an MD and I love and respect very much, told me that Id be a F$##ing retard for buying a bike.
He honestly fussed at me for like 43 minutes for THINKING about buying a motorcycle. well we see where that ended up. GOING 110 down I-10.
So when I decide that its time, then Im going to get it, My money or Hers

Well just let me know what happens in a few years.
Sucka
Hey this is Tad MC's wife. You guys don't even know the whole story. (And don't give that bros before hos bulls@#t later on). First of all, we only have one car, which I own by the way. Because we have only one car, only one person can work and since I am still in school, he is the one that works. So that is why it is "his money".
The car is a sh$tty gray Hyundai that I got when I was a junior in high school. It's not going to last forever you know. So "Tad MC" got a bike as a second means of transportation. Don't get me wrong--I think the bike is beautiful and I really like it, but right now what we need is a car. He doesn't take the bike in the cold and the rain which leaves us once again with the problem of one vehicle.
We are going to have to have a car when we move for me to go to medical school. So it's not really feasible for my wonderful Tad to keep buying bikes. However, and I don't think he told yall this, but I have promised to buy him whatever kind of wonderful bike he wants when I am a physician.
No he acted like you hated the bike!!! But make sure you get a BMW so you can fit in with the MD crowd. ANd congrats on having him sooo whooped!!!

How cold does it get in Louisiana?
i dont get it though. he said he could afford a bike and a car. so why not then? get another cage! keep the GS. and to Tads wifey. have u ridden on it yet? i've never met a chick who didnt like riding on bikes..
x
Maybe you should just get a Goldwing. I bet she would like that.
x
well that will do it.
i have the same problem Tad MC im coming up on a bike upgrade in June, hopefully to a GS and the girlfriend is been a right arse about it to be honest. She says i should get her a car so i can drive her around. At the moment she is doing her car license and actually has a car of her own insured and everything which her parents bought for her and is going to pass in June so whats the f'ing point if she can drive her bloody self. So as a compramise i said il have a bike and learn to drive and drive her car :icon_twisted: She didnt like that. But at the end of the day she doesn't have a good argument for me to spend money on buying a car so il get a new bike.
In your situation i agree you should keep the GS, buy another cage, then you get the best of both worlds. When shes a physician you can sell the GS and upgrade. Thus meaning you keep her happy because you didn't spend money on a new bike, just on the car you may or may not need. And you get to keep riding until she buys you a shiney new bike :icon_mrgreen:

Whoa whoa whoa. Big difference here. I'm
not ever giving up my GS. :thumb: Don't forget to pack your nuts under the seat when you sell the GS, Tad. You wont be needing those anymore. :flipoff:
Keeping the motorcycle as back-up transportation to the two cars would be more feasable and economical. Expecially with gas prices rising.
If her car broke down, then she would use your car, and you'd use the bike. If your car breaks down, you have the bike, and she still has her car.
Selling this bike at a loss, and buying another one later will cost you more in the long run.
Someone had to say it...
Your wife sounds like a... uh... Mean person.
If she's not into bikes, that's fine... But, you're allowed to have your own interests.
