Title: Pulled my brass plugs off of the mixture screws and found something very bizarre
Post by: Chris2P on May 20, 2006, 04:20:13 PM
My mixture screws are almost closed!!!  Turned them clockwise and they hardly moved.  Thought they  may have been stuck since the bike is 16 years old.  But they turn fine counterclockwise.  So I turned them out and back in and sure enough they bumped closed, close to where they were initially positioned.  I would not even think that the bike would run at such a lean setting.  But these havent been touched in 16 years!  Once I get a new throttle cable I'll test the bike with 2 turn out ( I just put 40 pilots and 125  mains in) Stock airbox and exhaust.

Question,   I'll be getting an aftermarket exhaust soon and will again rejet the mains.  When people talk about 3 turns out, they are refering to 360 degree turns out right???  That is a far cry from where the setting was on the stock configuration.

What "stock position" did you turn them too?

make sure when you go to turn them . get you a fine tip black marker . mark on the screw and on the carb that way you know where your 3 full turns are :)

My 05 new from the dealer had one screw bottomed out.

If it was bottomed out, does that mean you have one cylinder running super lean?
