Well I just got my GS from a fellow gstwin member. And I love it.
bike is a 98 with 11K on it with the following mods:
Has progressive front springs, newer bridgestone tires, front fairing, rejetted, wileyco slip on, k&n lunchbox filter, new battery, included a new chain (not installed yet), has smaller turns, fenderectomy, different handle bars (unsure of the brand) and some other minor things.
It is great to ride and coming from a past of riding dirt bikes it wasn't hard to get used to it. I am very happy with my purchase.
Only problem I really have with the bike is it has a slight hesitation around 2500-4000 rpm. After that it smooths out and rides fine. Was not like this on the test ride I took and seems to be worse when the bike gets hotter.
Is this something normal for these bikes or is it because of the 150 mains 40 pilot jets in it? Or could it be the lunchbox style airfilter getting heat soaked? Or could it just need a good carb tune up? Also I have tried to run it in prime and in the on position and it still does it either way...
Just wanted to ask some of the experts what there opinion was.

You've got some of the "srinath bars" which are Suburban Machinery knock-offs.
As for the hesitation... does it bog down at that point? You might be running rich. (my bet)
I have the same set up, but with a different exhaust. I had about the same problem, although my dead spot got slightly smaller after I knocked it off the centerstand :oops: Anyway, first thing I did was check the air mixture screw and made sure it was the right number of turns out, then I cleaned the carbs and made sure my jets weren't clogged or anything, then I checked my valves and two were tight so I fixed that, and while I was playing around I happened to check my cam timing and it was off a tooth. Start small and keep us updated, most likely its simple.

Congrats, that's a nice one. I'm far from an expert, but I wonder if 150 mains are really needed with a slip on and filter. My Yosh full system with Uni filter seems to do fine with 125s (and 40 pilots).
Others on this board are much more knowledgable on carb issues.

thanks for all the responses..
i pulled the plugs right after I got done riding it and they were NOT wet.. they were pretty black with some white around the electrode and ground. I don't know if they are old or not, will be replacing them tomorrow.
I was wondering if they jets were too big as well, but the PO did not mention any problem with it. It doesn't really feel like timing to me, certainly feels like a fueling problem with how it never reacts the same.
I cannot remember which screw is the mixture screw, is there a write up on how to properly adjust it or not? Just curious..
And yes I bought it from nemesis109 on here. He was a nice guy and I got ahold of him just before he advertised it so I could actually get it. I paid 1600 for it and I feel it is in very good shape. This slight hesistation is annoying but not a big deal.

and yes it bogs down at that point... but after 4k it runs like a bat out of hell
anyone with a link on how to properly adjusting the carbs mixture?
