Title: Painted my GS!
Post by: animal mother on May 24, 2006, 05:53:54 PM
I never really cared all too much for the red with white wheels combination of my GS so I figured I'd see what a blue/black combo would look like!

Before:

Now:

I've never really painted anything before but I followed the DupliColor instructions that someone had linked to on here before.  I did alot of prep work, sanded all the old paint and primer off and I couldn't be any happier with the result.  The metal tank came out a little darker of a blue then the plastic pieces but I actually think I like it that way!

wow! that is gorgeous! You should be proud of your job. Out of curiousity, how much did the project cost?

You killed the poor '92s paint! That looked just like my old bike and YOU KILLED IT! YOU HEARTLESS JERK!!!

I'm kidding. I like the deep metallic blue. Looks a lot like the '01 paintjob.

Thanks!  I estimate it cost about a hundred buck. That's not counting the hourly rate for all the time I spent wet sanding! :2guns:

I think the new look gives the bike a meaner look!

Looks good, but the tank and tail look to be a different color, might just be the lighting.

Did you apply the paint directly to the metal/plastic? No primer?

Also when you paint separate parts... atleast with cars... you paint them the way they sit naturally. As in... don't paint the tank sitting at an angle that its not gonna sit when its on the bike. Don't paint the fenders sittting vertical etc.

Looks pretty good though, take a few more pics in better lighting and w/ higher res.

That looks great!  :thumb: I always thought the red with white wheels looked nifty too, though.

That is too bad that the tank and tail didn't match up. But what matters is that you like it. Either way, it's a clean bike.

And i agree...not a fan of the white wheels...even with the red.

I love my white wheels, I left them. My bike is now blue with white graphics and during the winter my frame is being powdercoated white.

Go big or go home. i guess if you're going to go white, go all out. It actually sounds like it'll be pretty hot.

Yeah I really liked that red/orange color better. I see some early 2000 mustangs with that color and I love it.
