who here works at a bike shop.
Im figuring that not many of use because it would seem like if you did you would probably drive a GSXR
I'm in the process of trying to get a job at one of the local ones here. I'll be building bikes and prepping them for the showroom floor, as well as looking over used bikes before final release.
my buddies uncle is a Head Master Mechanic at a harley shop and he went to MMI
He said that was like the best time of his life and recommends it to anyone who wants to get into motorbike repair
heh went there myself ;) as of yet no shop work just working for myself. awful lot to pay fpor a damn hobby lol. but i maintain a motorcycle collection for a rather wealthy man here in town and he sends people my way for repairs installs adjustments. but work is not steady enough to do it full time :mad: :dunno_white: :laugh: but i still enjoy it though
I used to be a m/c mech. Graduated from AMI, Daytona Beach, Florida, 1990. And, I'd rather ride a GS500 than a piece-of-$#1+ GSXR...oh, wait...they're both Suzukis...
As a mech, I'd rather have the simplicity of something to work on, such as a GS500. Conversely, I used to have a '82 Yamaha XZ550 Vision which I loved to do valve adjustments on because it was easy for me to do, because I have skinny fingers. The shops around here would charge an extra $10/hr more to work on those bikes because there was so little room to get at the shims; just to give you an idea of how difficult it was for them to work on. That's 4valves/cyl, too.
jk about the POS(I'm a licenced mech, I can say that) GSXR, they are great bikes, and I'd love to get a stock '87 (without the pipe, though), but it'd have to fall in my lap (too much scrilla).
