Title: First Father & Son Ride = AWSOME
Post by: ECB on May 28, 2006, 06:52:38 AM
AWSOME!  :icon_razz:
Probably the best word to discribe it.  This was the first time my son and I have been able to ride our bikes together.  Unfortunately, his work schedule has always keep us from doing this before.

We went for a two hour ride up through Clemson into the county around Central and Six Mile ending with us coming across Hartwell Lake.  This was a route he likes to cruse, so he led the way.

What a great time can't wait for the next one.  :thumb:

Good stuff!  Still waiting for the magic moment when my dad buys a bike, and he and my brother and I take off for a few hours (or days :) ).

My dad bought a bike about a week after I did.

He's my absolute favorite riding companion.

He'll push me to be better, and talk shaZam! all ride...  Best friend I've ever had.

My son loves to ride with me whenever possible. He is kinda lightweight ('bout 90 lbs) and I KNOW when I am going too fast. I feel something fluttering and look back and its HIM flapping in the breeze. Just kiddin' son. It is truly a pleasure to "ride with Dad". My Dad rode on the back of my RD350 Yamaha (sans helmet) and the townspeople were like........WTF is going ON HERE!!!
He was 75 years old at the time. In a suit. I was 25. shaZam! on the townspeople.  :)

That is awesome.  I wish that my dad would ride with me but he is terrified or motorcycles.  He had and crashed 2 and since then hates them.  When i told him i had one he was surprised but not so much, just told me to be careful.

My dad loves bikes, has owned many and used to work for a bike shop. Get him talking and he'll tell you about the time he won a trip to Japan to tour the Honda factory for selling the most Honda motorcycles in Canada that year.  My inspiration to learn to ride was my memories of being a very little kid riding with my dad, I was so small he would put me in front of him on the bike and tell me that someday when I was bigger I would ride behind. That day never came because my grandma convinced him a kid of a bike wasn't safe and made him sell the bike for a family-friendly station wagon.

20 years later we're planning to ride together this summer.

Funny... I was thinking about this thread while I was on a ride with my dad yesterday.

He yelled at me for going 55 in a 45 while I was leading.  Talking about how "we're not out here to get tickets, we're out here to get better".... then on the way back he's doing 85 in a 55.... Hypocritical? I think so.

He says the only thing I need to worry about is getting too close to the yellow and oncoming traffic cutting over.  Apparently I have smooth lines though.

My dad yelled at me for 85 (indicated) in a 70 on the interstate where we were getting passed in the right lane. If I remember correctly, I was chasing him through a sweeper earlier that week at over 90mph in a 50 zone, and he's yelling at ME for speeding? Fathers... oi.

I ride with my dad all the time. I definitely got the bug from him. There's pictures of me on the honda when I was a baby sitting on the tank with him. Then I caught him working on the hodaka when I was little. He just bought the Harley and got his license last year (he calls it his first real bike) like most other dads he got back into it cause I basically made him.  i have more on road riding experience and call him a noob sometimes. I made him practice countersteering the other day in a parking lot.
