Title: Asking price for a 1992 GS
Post by: mpi on May 30, 2006, 08:37:21 AM
Hi-

Due to a lack of free time to ride I unfortunately have decided to sell my GS so that it can be ridden the way it deserves.  I am, however, a little stuck on how much to ask for it.  It is in good cosmetic condition and runs like a bear at around 11.5K miles.  I just put a new chain and sprocket on it last year, new headlight.  The owner before me rejetted it and put on a new slipon exhaust.  Tires are OK (maybe this is their last season), brakes are ok.

The only problem with the bike is the idle.  As the bike warms up the idle becomes unstable and I have to reach under the carb and turn it up repeatedly.  If I don't it adjust it at stops the idle will just keep running down and the bike will die.  This is only a problem at idle and the bike has plenty of power at speed and has never hesitated while driving.  The bike has sayfor quite a few long layoffs in the past year or so which leads me to believe that this problem can be attributed to dirty carbs.

So, in light of all this info, what does this forum think is a fair asking price for the the bike.  I was going to start around $1100 and hope for 1K.  How does that sound?

Thanks for your help
Mike
