Title: NEED HELP WITH INDICATORS
Post by: EACRUISER on May 30, 2006, 04:16:37 PM
GDAY,

I am new to the GS500 club, having just purchased a 2002 GS500E on friday.

MY INDICATORS stopped working on hte way to work this morning.

I indicate to the left and the indicators work but the dash light doesn't

I indicate to the right and the dash light works but the indicators don't.

Any ideas. - Blown globes maybe??

I don't know as it seems weird as they were working fine last night.

Welcome!

Do both indicators light up?

If so, then I would suspect a blown bulb.  Otherwise, the wires may have crossed and shorted together.

Left indication = Both Left indicators Working - No Dash light
Right Indication = No Right Indicators - Dash Light Working.

No idea as to what has caused this but i will check the Left control block wiring tonight.

Does anyone have the Wiring/Circuit Diagram for a 2002 GS500E that they could Email me.

Or any other manuals that you have a copy of.

My Email Address is EACRUISER@hotmail.com

Thankyou

My guess is that both bulbs on the right side are blown.

How does that explain the left indicators working but the dash light not working.

How does that explain the left indicators working but the dash light not working.

When the turn signals on one side are on, the dash indicator light gets it's ground thru the opposite side turn signals.  So if the right turn signals are out there is no path for the dash indicator light when turning left  :cookoo:

Make sense?

See starwalt's schematic here (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=16796.0)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Especially for the help

Another Question,

QuoteThese are parts from the GS500R body kit that Aluizio Motors sells out of Brazil.  Check out all the options at:

http://www.aluiziomotos.com.br/v3/en/PersonalizacoesDetalhe.asp?PERS_COD=PERS000018

The full GS500R kit is about $900

I saw this in another post. Is this the same as a gsxr700 front fairing or what.
If it is then i could buy the stuff of Ebay here in Australia as there are front Fairings for a GSXR700 going a hell of alot cheaper then what they are asking for the front kit.

STILL NEED HELP PEOPLE!!

Do any of you know where the right indicators earth out on. is it in one point or is it two as the globes are fine when i buzzed out what i thought was the wiring coming from the rear right globe holder it all buzzed out to earth. So this made me think that the earths are fine.

There is a white/opaque three cable connector in the center of my bike under the seat behind the battery which had the green, blue and some other colour wire in it and they buzzed out to earth with the globes in place.

Is there a connector between the (Switch and Turn Indicator) and the actual indicators themselves that i should be looking for.

Below the clutch handle there is a connector that goes to something that i havent worked out yet, it is a black two prong connector that has been wire tapped across it by the previous owner. What is this????

Not trying to thread hijack, but this seems related... How is the turn indicator button supposed to work? I never use it because it's really difficult to turn my blinkers off once I turn them on. When I signal, trying to get that switch to the center is a PITA. I'd rather hold the switch while signaling and have it spring back to center... Might have to design something like that.. Unless it's supposed to do that anyway...  :dunno_white:

The black/white wires from all the turn signal bulbs(globes) are grounded(earthed) at the negative (-) terminal of the battery.

This connector is where the diode module plugs in.  It's part of the start circuit and  has nothing to do with the turn signals.

It's the yellow connector inside the headlight bucket.  It carries the black (left side) and green (right side) wires from the turn signal switch to the 12V side of the turn signal bulbs.

Sounds like the PO had problems with the clutch switch.  He probably pulled the connector and jumpered it to bypass a nonfunctioning clutch switch.  This is part of the start circuit and is a safety issue.  It should be fixed.
