Title: Anyone wanna measure their SM2 Bars for me?
Post by: scottpA_GS on June 03, 2006, 10:29:32 AM
Anyone have a set of these that they can measure out for me? I know someone on here has made these before. I would like to make a few myself. If all works out I will try and make some to sell here.

If someone could provide detailed measurments that would be AWESOME! I will even send you one if I can get them made right

So you want measurements at each point? Can you be abit more specific? Would only take a sec for me to run outside.

Yes.

I'm assuming all angles.
Where do you need measured?
From end to end in the middle of the pipe?
From end to end on the short/long side of the pipe?

Sweet if you are able to make some I would definatily be in for a set. True sm2 bars a a bit pricey for my taste.

Well.. if you could kinda draw it out.. or type it in over the picture I need all the measurements. from each end to the welds and the measurement of the bit that extends past the welds on the top portion.

Thats a good question.. I think both the short and long side of the pipe would be best... that way I can get the angleĀ  :thumb: Also any good close up pics would be awesome as well.. you can EM them to me .. scott (AT) techamongous dot com

Thanks for the reply guys..

I hope they work out well.. maybee sirinath will pop in and give some adviceĀ  :icon_mrgreen:

Shush. I make time to post on the board in middle of my trip preparations. We leave for Deals Gap tomorrow and I'm doing swap in Atlanta while I'm there. I'm getting all the parts and tools I'll need boxed up and my gear layed out and my clothing all packed up. Hopefully we'll just be able to load the bikes and gear up and go.

A note about the drawing:
The 11" bars - the bottom point on the left bar at the top that goes like this: \ lines up with the bottom part of the 6.5" bar at the / spot. It's a lot easier to see what I mean on the right hand side though, but the 7" is measured from the TOP point on the 11" bars, as indicated by the dimensioning lines. The 6.5" bar is taken from the furthes spot out, as indicated by the dimensioning lines.

Somebody is going to earn a copy of "Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing" if they keep up with funnypapers like this.    :icon_razz:

Ahh.. I see this came up in another post..

I made 1 set so far.. They came out good but needed a bit of tweaking. I have sence installed my 89 clipons and haven been able to refit the SM2 Copys to make corrections..

so far it didnt cost me much at all.. I think that I can make chrome diped ones for about $65 and painted ones for about $50.

Right now im not sure I will make any more but I may if there is strong interest.

For now I am off to install my Dynojet kit cause DynoJet is in town for the anual  rally here http://www.visitjohnstownpa.com/thunderinthevalley/

And for the hell of it I want to get my free Dyno run before the weekend.. I will let you all know how it goes

Any pictures of the final product?
If you make more, I'd definitely be interested.

Maybe I can make a pair myself, out of PVC pipe and good intentions.
