why does it matter hows many times we ride and if we do, we're either lezz or riding w/ the bf/husband? I just know that more women are doing it but I wld love to see a woman's sportbike club where I live - there isn't any. Are people insinuating that women shouldn't be on bikes? Why do women on cruisers downlook on the women on sportbikes? Doesns't make any sense.
You are right, it doesn't make any sense. Where I work, there are several motorcycle riders. Off the top of my head if I were to list them, I think I could name more women riders than men riders. Two out of five of those women ride sport bikes (a 636 ninja and a 250 ninja). The other two ride a harley, and another has a honda shadow. I think it is cool as hell. I've even been riding with the 636 rider a few times. I think it is awesome that anyone rides - doesn't matter if they are male or female. :thumb:

because there are no single straight bike enthusiat girls around here!
I'm on the ladies' side, ghey or straight - luv them all. Unfortunately, since I've been riding, I only know of 1 other girl, who is my neighbor. When I went to Myrtle Beach, I saw a lot of women on cruisers, saw only a handful on sportbikes. It's a slow process but it's happening so those men who don't like it - deal with it and just move along your merry way.
to weaselnose - now you're just being mean. I'm straight (but married). But you are slightly right, there's not enough of us out there.
That thread was supposed to be about how neat it is to see a fellow woman rider when you're out riding. I get excited when it happens because 1) Potential riding buddy so I don't have to deal with the :bs: of... 2) because its just exciting to see another woman who shares an interest with you. The boys here will never understand completely what a different world it is for female bikers. They've never called up a stealer and been laughed at/ignored simply because of their sex, they've never had a hard time finding gear that fits over boobs but fits in the waist...etc. We've invaded their world and its finally acceptable. We just also have to deal with the dipshit leghumping drooling nonsense and try to demand respect.
That thread got turned into something way different and its a shame...
I know I'm gonna get alot of shaZam! about this post and you know what? :flipoff: I've got almost 40k logged on the road...if I was gonna let it bother me I sure as hell wouldnt have gotten this far. I ride for me, so go ahead and flame me. Oh and I fully intend on getting a Triumph 675 as a replacement for my ZZR600.... so there's, another sport bike rider... :) 8)
go girl - I'm on yr side 500%. I just started this thread because the initial thread was locked and I couldn't reply. It was so male chauvinistic.
yo u guys need to head to erupe their are plenty of women here that ride sport bikes. to be honest i havent seen that many in maimi. Some girls that i know own bikes but they are affraid of it (gsx750) and the other one is just plain crazy, she loves to stunt on her bike.
keep it going!
Sweetie just wait in no time at all you are going to have your own permanent riding buddy, who is a girl. I miss you being on the back of my bike. :kiss3: :kiss3:
If I lived in upstate NY, I wld be yr riding buddy! love the Buddha Loves You attitude & totally respect u for that.
I live in upstate NY and have been trying to get her to ride forever with me! Maybe if I was a female... :dunno_white:
Yeah but Rich getting to you is a ride in itself. If you were closer it'd be alot easier...

Oh yeah? Try buying a bra/lingerie/girl clothes/other girl stuff/etc for a women when you're not one...
Being discounted and treated like an idiot isn't specific to women... Most people can relate in one way or another.
Yes, it totally sucks...
But, women get better treatment in nearly every place in the world... A chick with a flat tire simply has to stand by her car and wait for a guy to pull over and fix it for her... A woman that's moving doesn't have to move a damn thing, she simply has to ask the right guy friend and he'll do EVERYTHING...
I could go on, but I don't need to... Women have boobs and men are dogs... Point: Women
Then how come women still dont get paid as much as men... even though the gap is closing in. And I always help when I move. No one has ever done that for me.
My wife has ALWAYS made more than me... My manager is a woman... She gets WAY more than me or my lead... And her boss is a woman... She gets paid WAY more than my manager... There are three other women on my team and they ALL make more than me.
Statistics say that short people make less than tall people... Maybe that's why you don't get paid much. I'll get back to you when I figure out why I don't get paid much. :dunno_white:
I'm not short and maybe Seattle is just more ummm progressive that the midwest.

Be careful with broad generalizations like that. Like RVertigo pointed out, that "fact" is pretty weak in the real world. Rarely does a woman who does the same job with the same amount of qualifications at the same agency make less than the equal male counterpart. As pointed out by the here (http://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2003/03/art2full.pdf), the gap is mostly because the occupations that are "traditional" woman positions pay less. The men in the "traditional" female position are paid the same as the woman. However, more females need to get themselves into "traditional" male occupations. Nothing unfair or sexist about it. The opportunities are there now where they were not before. Seek them out :thumb:

Yeah. Ambiguity makes a great blanket :thumb:
I wonder if knitting clubs have discussions about the lack of straight male knitters? :dunno_white:
I have thought about giving my wife the GS next year and upgrading to like a Z-1000 or something, but I am affraid she will forget to turn on a curve and end up a hood ornament. :cookoo:
Hi Jason!!! see if she wants to take the class and go from there.
Jackie, yeah she would definately need a class.
