The group I was riding with today was the first on the scene for a Single Motorcycle Accident.
The rider was on a Ducati 748 (? 7 something), and had high sided on the edge of a steep embankment....
The Ducati was in a tree about 70 feet below where we were, and the Rider couldn't remember if he was 2-up or not.
I know the rider was airlifted, and I pray to god that he was a solo rider, because for the 30 minutes we were there, no one could find a second rider.

Damn thats a big stack :o hopefully he was by himself :thumb:
we searched as best we could, and couldn't find anything.... No real way of seeing clearly though because of large high desert brush...
They did look briefly with a helicopter though.
Its awful, my mum used to be an critical care nurse and had to go with emergancy doctors to the scenes of car accidents and motorcycles accidents and they were specificaly told to make sure people didnt have passangers because shock and injuries can cause them to forget. Shes been at accidents where a driver of a cage hit a tree and was knocked uncoincious by their steering wheel and when asked insisted they were alone, the body of a female was found just down the embankment from the car hitting the tree, shed gone through the windscreen because she wasnt wearing her seatbelt properly. Turned out later that was his wife, he never thought she was with him after his accident. Imagine how awful that must have felt - you would doubt yourself wouldnt you, thinking if you had told them she was with you they would have been able to get to her and help her. *shiver* awful things can happen on roads
Everyone ride safe! :thumb:
the possiblity of going down 2-up and others not knowing has been stuck in my head all evening.
I'm considering some sort of way to label if I"m riding two up or not.....
was this on ACH today? sucks.
AFH, mile marker 7.66, just coming back from the tree.
That's awful. i can't even imagine how scary that'd be.
that sucks... hopefully there was no passenger
wow, I was up there on Saturday morning...beautiful ride, as I was coming back down, the rescue was going up..don't know if it was the same people or not...what an awful thing to hear about...
2 weeks ago there was a ducati rider that crashed into a car and was killed. its the spring, these things are starting to happen with more frequency. be alert out there.
We could do with some wrist bands - maybe that have a pressstud on the end so you can just clip it round your wrist, If it was laminated plastic type job it would be perfect, the stud would keep it on if you fell off (theyre pretty sturdy) Maybe it would read "Pillion on board" If it was bright coloured then medics wouldn't even need to read it they would know you had a pillion. Would be good if these existed. Bike shops could put them for free by the counters if they were funded by gvmnt' or woteva.
I don't know about how things are "over the pond"
but over here, people wear wrist bands with slogans on them for fashion/novelty.
I don't think that Medic's would look for something like that, because its a fashion trend these days.
But bracelets like those issued at festivals or concerts (flourescent) or even those used by hospitals are different from the fashion or "issue" bracelets. That's a good idea.
However, we'd have no idea in hell what a "pillion" is! :cookoo:  Passenger, perhaps, but not pillion.
why not just use prison shackles to ensure that the medics find both of you :icon_lol:

I save those for the bedroom....
I wear a dogtag with my info on it when I ride. I suppose one could have 2 different tags-one regular one and one that says "look for passenger" or something like that.
why not just wear those shirts that say:
"If you can read this... the [passenger] fell off."
Yea i meant like those they put on you in hospital and such, flurescent yellow or green, maybe even just a coloured arm band which you wear around your upper arm, like captains of teams wear. Just a thought, i like the idea of dog tags for your info Pantablo. Would be hard though to make it obvious to medics you were carrying a pillion.
speakin of those dog tags...
Who is it from SCS that makes those? I think I might need a pair....
I think its a great idea, maybe get one with details of the rider and then another that read GStwins.com  They could be another thing for sale on the homepage alongside the stickers! Id buy em hehehe
That sucks soo bad good thing he didn't have another rider..
Or, don't haul ass with a passenger.

Or, don't haul ass with a passenger.
extremely logical solution, but even when riding with Sane and Sensible Limits... things still do happen.
