Title: My 1st poker run, good and bad
Post by: middlem2 on June 06, 2006, 06:55:42 AM
Here in Ohio, beautiful day, 140 bikes....I kept thinking I should have taken a camera.  Anyway, we drove a total of 105 miles, stopped by 5 bars, I ended up with 2 queens and 2 5's.  Here's why I'm posting this.....

.......of the 140 bikes, only 3 were rice burners.  My yellow GS500F, a newbie had a  Suzuki 400? (looked like a GS500), and some guy on a Kawasaki.  I have always heard about people hitting other bikes in groups.....they whole day we didnt have a problem...then the guy on the Kawasaki hit another bike right at the end of our run, I mean RIGHT at the entrance to the cookout....lit it up going down the road and then locked them up....bam, right into another bike.  Careflight came and hauled him away, they put down some floordry for the blood on the road, began the investigation, measuring, etc.  What an idiot.  This guy had been hot-dogging it all day, and didnt have the sense of when to quit drinking.  I have not heard any updates on his condition.  It pissed me off for several reasons, but one of them was that he was driving a bike like mine, so I felt like it pissed off the Harley crew and gave a bad impression of sport bike riders, it gave the public a bad impression of bikers in general, and it gave the cops a bad impression on the entire biking community.  As soon as they cleared the road, I left.  I'm not perfect in any way, but please exercise some common sense when you're out there for everyones sake, especially if you are drinking.

Common sense and motorcycles starts with not drinking in the first place  :nono:  Finish your ride, then start drinking

Yeah no kidding. Riding and drinking don't mix.  It takes enough concentration to ride when you're sober.

Hopefully everyone's alright.

Eeek I can't imagine having even a single drink when I'm riding. I hope the guy's okay, but I agree with you, it makes everyone else look bad.
