well iknow a few of the guys from the uk don't like the srad tail as its pritty fat, but that just means there is more of it to love:mr green:
basically all i needed to do this mod was;
1 hacksaw. 2 tape measure. 3. file. 4. 4xm10 bolts 5. pencil 6. srad subframe 7. srad brake light 8. srad tail cowl 9.srad seat plastics 10. srad front seat. 11. srad rear foot pegs 12. drill 13. drill bits
step 1 remove all the fairing and electrical gear out of the way
step 2 remove gs under tray
step 3 (the fun part) out with precision tool number 1 and cut that gs sub frame away. at the top it ended up i cut 50mm from the center of the tank mounting bolts and at the bottom 230mm from the engine side of the frame ( it was the only place i could get a consistant measurement from)

step 4 drill the 4 10mm mounting holes

step 5 mount srad subframe
(http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PICT0191Custom.jpg)
step 6 was mount under tray and the rear half of the sub frame.
step 7 mount rear brake light and reroute all electrics,
step 8 cut a slot in the under side of the seat pad plastic so the fat gs battery would fit
step 9 paint the fairings and cowl
and finally step 10 put the seat fairings ect on the bike

and the new not so ugly footpegs
(http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PICT0200Custom.jpg)
and the back with my new tyre (still to go on)

notice my precision workshop in the back ground, im not sure i could have done this mod with any thing less:mr green:
thats it im done
WTG looks nice but I have a question . .. .will 4 bolts be enough to hold the whole tail section together?
lol. thats all the gsxr has. im using all the same fixing points on srad frame as a standard srad.
were can i get one?
can any one photo chop that on to a F model? and make it yellow
please.
i just brought everthing on ebay, subframe first, then the cowl then i got the tail light, then i got the seat, the last thing was the panels probly took me 3months but i was trying to spend the least amount possible, oh yeah the foot pegs cant forget them. i was soo good chopping the back of the gs off, i was almost tempted to just have the front subframe and have a gs rat bike :icon_mrgreen:
It would look good in yellow, maybe some black stripes. Would look like a bumble bee or wasp with the fat end and stripes hehehehe O0
That tail looks enormous on the GS. It's bigger than the tank.
I thought about doing this with an R6 tail once, but I am lazy and cheap.
Dave
R6 tail would look good, but the R1 (the flat tailed one with the small row of LEDs for the tail light) would look ace. The flat section would probably meet up with the shape and size of the tank perfectly especially in terms of height, this is going on if you had the seat cowl on also. The R1 tail could get built in indicators into the tail light for a nice clean end. Would look fantastic i think.

This one i think if you could mount at the right angle so height matched height of the tank, it would look bril :thumb:
Yeah, that year R1 tail would be bad to the bone marrow. The only reason I thought R6 was because there was one in excellent condition with subframe on CL for like $150. Would have been a sick mod, but I have an '05, and she doesn't like when I operate on her. Infants, you know?
Dave
yeah i probably wouldn't have done it if it was a new bike but its a crappy old gs and not worth anything, its just transport and some thing to keep me busy.
i would have done a r6 or r1 but i couldn't find any thing cheep on ebay, and i dont have acess to welding equipment, i just assumed the gsxr would have roughly the same sort of dimensions for the subframe, and besides no one had done it :D

That's what I was thinking... It looks like an ant with a huge thorax...
If it was smaller, that would be totally slick.
hollly effing huge!
wouldn't look that bike on the F model
i think you right you dont notice it at all when the tank bag is on there, i d say it would be the same with the fairing.
didn't rgv's have a similar tail but scaled down a lot?anyone know- werase643?
