Post by: nick_villan on June 07, 2006, 01:57:17 PM
I dont mean to be a pain in the ... but i forgot the brands for the front 15 tooth sprocket. When i went to the stealership they told me that it was the same one as the gs, but i renember reading somewere that wasnt true. He also told me they were 25, isnt it cheaper to buy them on my own or did he give me the wrong thing?

Stock front sprocket has 16 teeth.  See this page (http://www.bbburma.net/Documents/GS500_Chains&Sprockets.txt) for a few brands.

The key is good preparation  :thumb:

Get EVERYTHING you need before you start working. This includes a drink  Lay it all out. Have a nice clean work area. Spread things out, takes notes if necessary. Even take digital pictures so you can put things back where they belong if you need to. Read up on what you are doing before, during, and after. Have someone around that is mechanical if need be.

You can do it Nick  :thumb:

Front sprocket is extremely easy.  Do yourself a favor and spend $10 on a pair of snap-ring pliers.  Hell, I bought a set at Autozone and returned them the same day so that's an option too.

Other than dealing with the snap ring the only difficult part is keeping track of which bolt goes where in the side cover.

Yeah, if I were to do it all over again, that is the route I would take. Would make life easier.
