I am sure you all get tired of answering the same questions, but I already looked through all the old articles and couldn't find something that would help.
I bought a 97 GS500 this afternoon.
I rode it around my parking lot a little bit, and it was fine at first, but then kept on bogging down and dieing, but would start right up just fine whenever it quit.
This evening, I was moving it to a different parking space and I let it tip...I felt like such an idiot.
When I picked it back up, I tried to start it. Nothing Happened. Wont even make a noise.
Observations
Only observation is that the red oil light is on when I turn the key.
I thought it might be flooded so I tried hitting the ignition with full-throttle on neutral, but nothing happened cause engine didn't make a sound..
As a side note, I am not sure if it would affect the battery, but during the 4 hours in between sessions, the engine Run/Off switch may have been in the Run position, the key was not in the ignition, but will the bike drain battery if the red switch is in the run position but key is not in/turned to on?

check the connections on the battery they might have come loose
Start with charging the battery. Everyone should get a farking Battery Tender!!! :thumb:
on another note if its in gear and the kick stand is down it wont turn off make sure the blue and green light are on and try to start it
In addition to what they already said, don't worry about the red oil light being on when you turn the key. This is normal, and as the pressure builds up when you turn on the engine, it should turn right off.
Also, this might sound silly, but make sure that you have enough gas in the tank, if you're just about to run out it's common for the bike to die, but still start back up. Once you manage to start it try switching to Reserve or Prime and see if that solves the issue.
I'm not sure, but it sounds like your starter isn't even doing anything, correct? Try cleaning or swapping the wires on your clutch lever. That's what worked for me.

Picked the Kickstand up and put it in Neutral and it started right up.
Now I feel very foolish
To my credit I did specifically ask the owner when I bought it today if there were any "tricks or special switches" to get it started.
He only said the clutch needed to be in.
I grew up on 80's Dirt Bikes that you could start in 1st, oblivious to kickstand position.

The blue light does not affect starting. It simply indicates that the highbeam is on.
