Title: mesh jackets?
Post by: busterkat on June 08, 2006, 02:55:25 PM
Now that summer is here it will be a little to hot for leather ,so i will be looking at mesh jackets this weekend.Does anyone here know how good they are , how do they hold up in crash, and do they keep you cool? I would hate to waste money on one if they suck

a mesh jacket feels like your wearing a t-shirt when your riding, makes the summer riding much much better.......and plus if its slick enough you might be able to pick up some chicks lol....... :2guns:

I just bought a cortech GX-Air for like $150 from a friend who works at a stealership. You can get em online for about $161, shipped. I highly recommend you go check out newenough.com... I've only had my jacket for 3 days, and don't actually own a bike yet... but I love the jacket so far! (Plus, the XS fit me, which is rare )

I'll be posting pics in the thread entitled "Happy, Happy Nood" once I find my digital camera..

Cortech gear is good stuff - I've got the gx sport and love the fit/feel and comfort and build quality. Lots of nice features and ce-armor (except for the back, but hey, at least its got a pad).

Got my pics up: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=27255.0

The jacket feels amazing.. my stepmom was telling me "oh, it's so hot, you'll die of dehydration, etc" (she's trying to talk me out of picking the bike up on Sunday... as if )

I wore it for 2 hours, just to show her I could..  :cookoo: I could feel the airflow start to cool me off just as I walked around the house... at 50MPH, I doubt you'd even know you were wearing it. Just my $.02

One of the things I asked for with my RR purchase was a good textile summer riding jacket. I picked up the Astar T-Stunt Air-Flo (http://www.alpinestars.com/moto/jackets_tstuntairflojacket.html) jacket.

I have a Fieldsheer Mach 3.  Very comfy and good CE-approved armor.  The Mach 4 is essentially the same except it has leather on the outside of the elbows/shoulders.  The Mach jackets also come with a rainjacket in a pouch on the back.  The rainjacket goes OVER the mesh instead of under like most rain liners.  That way the mesh acts as insulation and helps keep you warm in the rain.

Also a good price since the rain jacket is included, not an extra.  I think I paid 79.99 plus shipping (on sale last month) at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com.

Now the Mach 3 is $69.99 and the Mach 4 is $79.99.  I rode today in pretty hot temps and was comfortable.

I don't think mesh is as good as leather or a good textile/leather jacket, but I can't wear my other jacket in Oklahoma summers.  We have ten full days of 100F+ predicted right now...and it's not officially summer yet. :o

I have one by Mossi...  It's ok.

Time to break it out tho...  As soon as it stops raining here.

I have a Mach 3. Good jacket, love the CE armor. Crash tested a Mach 1 and it held up fine. Transfered the CE armor from it into my Teknic leather jacket.
