Alrighty first issue, my GS ate its' battery last night, what gives? It cranked 1.5 times on each thumb of the starter when I woke up (did not start) and now that I'm home the headlight doesn't even come on!
I swear some days my GS looks at me and just :flipoff:
Also last night when off throttle the headlight was somewhat dim. (stator? I dunno, I am noob) Occasionally went noticably brighter while cruizing at 70mph.
Also beast refuses to start when it is cold out... What gives?
get a battery tender for $20, slow charge it, 10 hours at 1 amp. The dimming light = battery almost dead... The light brightens at 70 because you're at peak charging RPMs (I think it was like 5K.. not sure though, a quick search would show it)... so the generator is putting out the most current, and your lights get brighter. Once a battery is weak to the point of not starting the bike, it needs to be slow charged on a charger, not quick charged via riding the bike.
2 amp trickle charging as we speak.
Levels were low. But they were topped up about a month ago.
My bike hates me. (Oh BTW I have a BRAND NEW rectifier, so it's not that.)

My bike hates me.
Not just your bike. Me too.
Hope the charging fixes your problem.. how old is the battery? Even a battery that's been recently topped off won't hold a charge for long, if it's dead...
Probably older than mud.
probably circa 1990 when the bike hit the showroom LOL.
Probably just a good idea to go ahead and get a new battery. And that way if it isnt a problem with the battery you will know for sure. :thumb:
ditto, im in the same boat. Trying to get more important parts right now so the battery can wait. Still need a new helmet :icon_rolleyes:
Has the bike been down on the left side?
Yeah actually a few months (like 6 or so) ago, but didn't have any problems until just now.
Going to test for shorts tonight.
