Title: GS500 upgrade
Post by: LMT on June 11, 2006, 07:37:02 PM
Has anyone upgraded from the GS500 to the "whole new world" of the 600 class?  Specifically I am interested in a Katana 600 and would like to know if anyone has done the upgrade and their impressions.  BTW my first bike was a Ninja 250 which I sold (2004 model) recently.

Going from a GS500 to a Katana 600 is like adding cheese to your ham sandwich.  Most people who spend a season or two on the GS can adequately handle a 600 supersport with little adjustment.

Indeed. 16 months and 9,000 mostly canyon miles before I upgraded to the 600rr. Now you can usually find me at the track...

If twisties are your passion, I think you may find the Katana disappionting.  It is a PORKER of a bike designed mainly to eat highway for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I logged 4,000 miles on my GS before picking up an R6.  In retrospect, I would have put a few more miles on the GS before moving up, but I was capable at that point.
