Hey I have a gsxr rear wheel and some one told me that any 5 bolt gsxr rotor should work as long as its diameter wasnt larger than the stock GS500 rotor which I looked up and found to be 250mm. And I have found a 2005 gsxr750 rear rotor on ebay and its diameter is 220mm so should this work or is it too small cause I dont know how big the 89 gsxr rotor was but I know it was smaller than the GS rotor. Thanks.
GS rotor is 245mm, I believe. 220mm is going to be too small for proper contact, I'd imagine.
hey there,
also the gsxr rotor has 5 bolts holdings it on and the gs rim only has 4, a katana has 4 as well so you might be better searching for one of them instead. if your in the uk. i could give you one i have a couple spare, damn you could have a whole back wheel if you wanted it.

Not necessarily. The 98+ Kat wheels are a 5-bolt patern. I'm not sure how different the old GSX-R rotors are, but I believe the rotors from the 98+ Katana and the SV650 will also work. As long as it has a 5 bolt pattern and is around 245mm then you should be fine.
Anyone know the specs on a 2002 GSXR600 rear rotor found one of those here in town? Thanks.
up to 02 (maybe 03) GSXR's are 240mm.
All TL's and 99-02 SV's are 240 as well. (not sure about 03+ SV's).
05-06 GSXR are 220mm
GS rotor is 250mm
So should the 2002 gsxr rotor work the same as a 89 gsxr rotor?
to keep the techie people happy....
NO it is the wrong part
it is too small
you need to have a 245-250mm rotor custom made
since that ain't gunna happen......
the smaller rotor will have less brake contact patch
and the pads will wear funny
get the biggest (rotor) one you can find
another possible solution is the 98+ KAT600 brake caliper bracket.....it should be properly spaced for the smaller rotor
but I haven't checked this personally
Dgyver will probably confirm this

I have not got hold of one to measure either, yet.
dang, i'll have to go into the depths of hell(my basement) and look at my kat600/rg-v conversion
well different part #'s
good news the caliper bracket for a gs is 25 bucks
bad news the caliper bracket for a KAT 600....55 bucks
and the GS caliper will fit
so now we have the answer to the gsxr wheel swap also
Darrel.....i kinda have a spare....since i have a custom one for the RG-V arm
beer and a couch will cover the price if interested
