ok, i'm having issues with my oil light coming on at idle then going out with a touch of throttle. I want to hook up a pressure gauge to see exactly what is going on here.
How do i do that? I understand from some searched posts that it's like an odd size or something, so what exactly is the deal? I read the haynes article about testing the oil, but it doesn't say how to get a gauge to connect into the appearantly oddly shaped hole.
bump.
someone most know how to do this
my best advice is to get the clymer book on it, they have all diagnostic, repair, and maitainence (MS) info you could dream of there, and when I get off of work tonight, Ill look it up for you.
This post (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=27414.msg291570#msg291570) by Bob Broussard didn't help?
I know he didn't mention the type/style/brand of gauge he uses, but it seemed pretty clear about where to attach it. :dunno_white:

no, not when taken in conjunction with this ( http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=15219.0) post by Raindrift in which he discusses the problem with the size of the hole (not being exactly 1/8" npt as most gauges seems to come with), and in others where people have had issues getting a gauge to connect.
I know WHERE to attacted, i'm just trying to figure out exactly WHAT to use and HOW to attach it.
Gotcha. This is something I have yet to do myself, so I'm interested in the "full disclosure" too. :)
me too, I've never tried this check but I'd like to know how to do it.

Toby:
They should have the proper gauge at Speed Freakz. They tested it before with a gauge there, or so I was told.
anyone have an oil pressure sensor setting around they could measure a thread size for me? I understand i need to find a way to convert the thread to something workable with the oil gauge, if someone could measure and tell me what thread size i'm working with that would be awesome.
Thanks again everyone
I believe I have a whole mounting kit somewhere.
I drilled and tapped the big chrome bolt to take a banjo bolt, ran a banjo and line to a guage that I fitted on the front motor mount with a round carrier type bracket ... It all was great ... till I pulled it off the bike and sold bike, then never had the desire to do it on another.
Cool.
