The bike moving/shipping company just came and took it away to sunny So. Calif. :( I won't see her now 'till July 2 :o What will I do for 2 weeks with no riding?? :x
I guess post here and go vroom vroom at your desk/chair/couch/bed and be glad you getting to where there is far better sunshine and year round riding weather.
Cool.
Srinath.
Well, I feel your pain. I'm leaving for hell, I mean Kansas City for 2 weeks, sans bike! It sucks! :x
We have more rain in the forcast for the next 7 days.... so we here in New England have our own type of pain. :guns: But we can sympathize.
rprata, who are you using to ship the bike, and how much is it costing? Hopefully I'll be doing the same at the end of the summer.
I am using Allied Moto (an agent for Allied Van Lines). It was around 750.00 (coast-to-coast) including residential pick-up and residential delivery (at 79.00/each) .. if you can find a BUSINESS to have the bike picked up at, and another one to have it dropped off at, you can save 160.00 off that price.
Check out http://www.brunolake.com and click on motorcycle shipping. E-mail them and ask for a quote. It will depend on the mileage of the trip, and the size/weight of the bike (I assume it'll be a GS).
They were the lowest price I found.
You COULD use ForwardAir, but then you need to crate the bike up and deliver it to the ForwardAir terminal, and then pick it up from the destination terminal. They're a little less expensive, because it's just air-to-air, not over-the-road.
Actually ForwardAir is a trucking company.I've used them a few times for engines and such.
They provide crates for the bikes ( you may have to wait two weeks for one...so plan in advance) for extra $$ on the shipping.
Sorry guys to resurrect an old topic, but I was wondering how it all went, any problems?
I'm looking to have a GN delivered to kansas and was worried about transporting a cycle without a crate...
Rprata got his bike to San Diego but then he blew the engine a couple months back and sold it to another GSTwin member. I have not noticed him posting since then so you may have to e-mail him to give you an answer.
