ola' ladys and gents.
my 01 ran pretty crapy below 3.5k rpm and i figured out it was lean so when i was replaceing my leaky valve cover gasket, i did myself the favor of checking the mix screws. one was 2.5 turns, one was about 3.5... yikes!!! so i set them both to 3.25
bike runs much much better now, but is still kinda crapy under 2.5k rpm so mabe ill try anouther half turn or so?
my question is how much you can back those screws out before theres no adjustment left? i shoulda swap to bigger pilot but i didnt have em at the time.... o well...
happy gs-ing everyone
I would think 3.5 would be the max before you start running out of threads and the spring that's inside looses its tension keeping the screw from loosening further.
When i got my bike the right carb screw was all the way in the left screw was 1/2 thur from falling out.I started at 3 turns out put about 100 miles on it checked the plugs, they were still white so after trying different settings and taking it for ride they are set at 4 turns out and plugs are good
Did you notice any difference in performance between 3 turns and 4 turns out?
No real difference exept 3 turns out plugs were white now 4 turns out after 120 miles plugs are tan.I have no dead spots anywhere in the throttle bike pulls hard from taking off to 11000 in every gear.Do you think thats to far i was going by the conition of the plugs?
No, you were getting a good plug reading in 100 miles (that's a long time for a plug reading). :icon_mrgreen: :thumb:
