just want to bounce my thoughts of the experts before i tear into it and order some jets.
94 with a vh exhaust, stage 3 dynojet kit and a kn lunch box filter. I bought this bike used and have not been in the carbs yet so i really dont know what jets/set up is in the carbs yet. The only thing i do know is a reset the mix scres to 3.25 turns out and it idles great and runs great to 5500 rpms fine. Were i have my issue is in the upper rpms (5500rpms+) specially in 4th gear+ mainly with 1/2+ throttle openings. say im a cruising at 5200rpms in 4th gear with the throttle just cracked (1/4) and i try to accel, as soon as i hit 6000rpms or so i just starts acting like its hitting an electronic rev limiter, it does not stall, it will continue to try and pull thru the rpms but very slow. it sounds rich, plugs show rich and adding choke does not help it. now in the lowers gears were you keep the throttle opening small cause it revs up so fast, its not as noticable, it will pull up to redline like a raped ape in 1st-3rd gear.
do you guys agree that it tends to sound like its rich off the main jet, or is that sorta like needle and main jet tweeking area?
