Title: Putting engine back into the frame sucks ...
Post by: Mandres on June 17, 2006, 06:10:04 PM
But with the help of my awesome wife I finally got it.  It was a real Buddha Loves You; you have to maneuver it just so or else it will get hung on the mounting tabs.  My whole body is sore from muscling it around and trying to balance it on my jack.  If anyone else ever has to do it I strongly suggest leaving the head and cylinders off until the crankcase is back in the frame.  Time for a beer...

it's actually a 2000 model.  What's different on the 89s?

I have found it easier to lower the frame around the engine and then lift them both back up. Forks have to be pulled and have the frame strapped from above. Sometimes I have to get creative since I rarely have any help.

It's all about getting the left hand engine casing in high and the right place then it drops in

use an old mattress, set engine (on its side on it) then lower frame onto it from above :thumb:
