Alrighty ladies and gents we have one Circle's Center here who is continuously grounding his pegs. (Comments about, "OoOoohhh that's not safe blah blah blah..." can be checked at the door, thanks.)
I Figure, I need new rearsets.
But also my front tire looks like there's no more (or maybe only a little) angle to give.
The rear has some, but not too much.
So I'm wondering if I need to change out my front for something else (is that even possible?) And then if I get the new rearsets, what will hit next? (The can?) And solutions to those challenges.
I just want to get that little bit more angle. (Because it feels SO GOOD!)
buy a real bike, once your at max lean there is no need to look for more on the gs.
but if you must. the left can get lower but the right will not. shorlty after the peg grinds the exhust will.
Hang off the bike more so the bike doesn't lean as much.

Yep, you want to get your centre of gravity as far inside of the radius of the turn as possible. Which, in a turn, actually brings your CofG lower to the ground... tighter turns possible.
put on a sv650 shock and lift the bike a little, the will increase the distance that you can lean. :thumb:
I agree you need a new bike, the GS was never designed for getting insane lean angles i dont think
If you're leaning lots you might want to take the centre stand off.
If it touches down then it is a bad thing (TM).
Alpha, that sounds intriguing (and FREE!) Do you have any pics comparing the two so I can see the difference and try to replicate it myself?
rangerbrown, I'm planning on redoing the exhaust with ground clearance in mind possibly going with the new GSXR's muffler type, I realize I may not just be able to "cut and paste, so I have other ideas too.

Center stand removal 'eh? Good idea. Will do either later today or tomorrow. I know it creates some problems, but I'll just have to deal 8)
I'm interested in the SV650's rear shock, what are the primary advantages of this, just ride height for lean angle? Or is it a better rear suspension set period?
Alpha, since you are the tire god I want to know if my tires have much more to give, I'll post pics of them after I actually wake up
once you reach that edge on the tire, 130 you could lean right off the side of it, to the point there is no tire left. so alf may have a idea to fix that.
You're probably not dragging knee. Hang off the bike, similar to:

Basically you pivot around the tank and slide your butt off the seat, supporting yourself with your outside leg hugging the tank. Do some google searches and there will be good visual demonstrations on technique.
As for me being a "tire god", well that's simply not true. There are many others who have far more experience than I do. I'm just not an idiot, that's all.
You can get optimum cornering without using the entirety of your tyre or grinding your pegs, I can get my knee down on the track and have the perfect line and still have a touch of tread left. If you lean more all your compromising is your speed and increasing the likleyhood of dropping the bike.
better ....ability to get....lean angle
raise the bike to get better ground clearence
you can raise the front....3/4-1 inch by droppong the tubes in the trees
to can raise the rear with a SV/ or my favorite...89-95 GSXR 750 shock
the rear will go up....about 1.5-2.0 inches
scraping on the street.....slow down or lean off the bike before you jack the rear and hurt yourself
hey alpha were did u find does pics. does gs look amazing. And the full bodies, their all custom made right?

I found the pics in the Photo Gallery. Dgyver's fairing is modeled of a GSX-R600. The others are probably race fairings off other bikes just fit to the GS. I highly doubt any of them are custom made.
i think i might get my neigbor to do what dgyver did on his bike, just got to find the right year
damn brian...did you ever get more fitting gear?
circles...follow the suggestions above:
Better shock...something more suited to aggressive riding.
Hang off the bike.
Rearsets.
After rearset you'll have a problem with the exhaust...you can't use the new GSXR stuff. That little thing you see on the side isn't a muffler...it's a tip.
If you're looking for something different, though, hit me up. I've been trying to find somene to send me a stock exhaust I can use for jigging for a new high mount.

No, but I'm trying to eat more and work out more to better fill out my current selection.

I think I have something coming your way soon... stay tuned.

... ...
(had to use that because there isn't a greedy looking smiley rubbing his hands together in anticipation)
Went out and had at it today, tried leaning off the bike and found that I could carry some more speed. Mine was more of a shoulder thing, but I'll get my butt into the action soon.
Already had a sortie up one of the many local twisties planned with a ZX-6R so i figured, "Hey let's try it!"
I Definately carried the corners hotter. The guy on the ZX went further than he had before but could not catch me. (I didn't believe it till I couldn't find him in my rear-view either!)
Makenenzie, that actually sounds cool! I'm assuming it will give me some sweet clearance? PM me, I might be game!
About the tires, anyone know of any wider/better rubber I should be putting on those filthy white rims of mine?
Alpha's got something coming my way...but stay tuned in the near months for a marketed high-mount exhaust.
Alrighty, I see how it is! Hahhaa
In the mean time I may try to fab up something myself. Maybe find some really flat shaped muffler and creative with the pipe routing.
seriously...just wait a few weeks.
Weeks? OMFG that's hot!
I was expecting to have to wait a long time!!!
SIGN ME UP!!!!!!!!!!
As soon as I get the exhaust to jig up I'll be able to come up with a design real quick...it'll just be a matter of waiting for materials to come in. I've got two designs in mind...one is a single high mount on the right side, and the other is a true-dual high mount with a smaller can mounted on either side of the tail. Everything's already layed out in my mind...just need the flanges from a stocker and to get my guinea bike's owner to let me do some tinkering.
Sweet!
I get one of the first run!
Oh BTW how much about? (Won't hold you to the numbers, just trying to budget.)
My target for the 50mm dual high-mount is $375. For the single side high mount I'm looking at $325.
